who we are + what our mission is

Trauma-Informed Yoga Australia exists because we believe trauma-informed principles have the power to transform how people move, lead and heal.

Born from lived experience with complex trauma and the profound impact of trauma-informed yoga on nervous system recovery and embodiment, this social enterprise brings together trauma-informed yoga, trauma-informed leadership and adaptive leadership under one mission-driven practice.

We work with individuals seeking reconnection with their bodies, facilitators wanting to deepen their trauma-informed practice, and organisations committed to embedding these principles into leadership and culture.

our founder

Hi! I'm Renée, a trauma-informed leadership, yoga and practice educator with expertise in leadership capability development and organisational design across sectors. With a Master's degree in Management, a postgraduate learning diploma and international speaking and work experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge - and enthusiasm - to what I do.

Originally from Aotearoa New Zealand, I now live in Regional Victoria, Australia, with my husband, son and our nervous system-regulating dog, Jimmy.

I left my career leading disability and mental health learning professional learning design for one of Australia's largest nonprofits after years in national and international HR and leadership functional leadership roles.

Throughout my career I've seen firsthand how powerfully trauma-informed principles can transform organisational culture, leadership practice and the way employees and volunteers are supported - when they're genuinely embedded into decision making and organisational design.

Given my love of working in for-purpose organisations who do amazing things, this understanding became the foundation for what I do now.

We work and live on the lands of the Wathaurong People of the Kulin Nation and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

We honour the lands we walk on and the wisdom of First Nations communities worldwide.
